As a first time dove hunter, I was not sure what to expect when I was invited on this trip, but all I can say is WOW. From the moment we arrived, everyone at Lazy Fork made you feel right at home...like you were truly a part of the family. We were absolutely amazed by the beauty of the ranch, the kindness shown by everyone on the staff, and the first-class accommodations. The 5-Star meals prepared by our chef ensured that none of us went hungry. Our guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and tried their hardest to make sure we had a good time and successful hunt. We all had a great time and in fact, have already booked for next year.

 Big thanks to Rob Bracken and his family for hosting us and allowing us to hunt on their amazing Ranch! Everyone involved in making this trip happen, from the travel, to the food, to the wonderful company, is amazing. Seriously the best group of guys. Thanks for carrying everything for me, helping me in and out of the blinds, and showing me an all around good time. I’ll never forget harvesting my first whitetail buck, but that was honestly just the icing on the cake. Sitting in the blinds with great company while watching all the incredible wildlife may have been my favorite part. We saw and identified bobcats, javelinas, quail, dove, hawks, buzzards, pigs, snakes, roadrunners, deer, turkey, coyotes, cardinals, green jays, and even a great horned owl. I learned how to score deer and determine their age based on certain characteristics. I learned about the history of the area and about ranch management techniques. I even used a ranch weapon during my time there, and having Rob coach me on the basic fundamentals of marksmanship and the exact location to shoot the buck based on different body presentations was invaluable. Texas is truly a one of a kind place with one of a kind people. Thank you!

My grandfather and I just recently hunted with these guys and let me tell you they are above all outfitters that I have experienced. My grandfather is 81 and they accommodated him perfectly. The food and the lodge were absolutely amazing not to mention the refrigerator stocked full of beer! Lol The guides were extremely personal and the amount of game and class of bucks they have are extraordinary! You will NOT be disappointed if you book a hunt with these guys!

Outdoor activities is a major part of rehabilitation for many people. I suffered a traumatic brain injury and although this area leads in TBI research, being stuck in one of the largest cities in the United States can be very overwhelming. All the hustle and bustle and noise and learning how to interact with people again is a lot of strain mentally even if the injury isn’t blatantly obvious. With that, with the therapy of being outside and to focus on a task one has the ability to accomplish is very important, but the social environment is also important. In my rehab I would get down on myself for set backs even if they weren’t inherently my fault, and a lot of people at the WTB suffer from this mentality so having a basic goal, to go out and look for deer and maybe shoot one, focus on it, and possibly accomplishing it without distractions over stimulating you really means a lot. Then having an environment where everyone is really friendly and supportive of you so you can focus on an accomplishment in a time of your life were you may not feel like you’re accomplishing a lot is exactly what more people need. I’m an avid hunter, so even beyond everyone being nice and supportive at the Lazy Fork it was a great place to hunt, eat, and even stay. In the military we often focus on fine details and this place had every one of them covered.

  Stop looking! If you or your company have been looking for that perfect hunting destination, this is it! This place has it all. Great accommodations, world class dining, a friendly, relaxing atmosphere, and the most picturesque South Texas sunsets to be found. The wildlife numbers and species are abundant. Whitetail deer, Bobwhite/Blue quail, Rio Grande Turkey, feral hogs, and javelina can be seen on a daily basis. This fifth generation operating cattle ranch is one of the legendary ranches of the famed “brush country.” 

I went there as a stranger and left as a friend. Alicanne and her brother, Rob, make you feel at home. Guides, Shane and Cody, are locals. They are very knowledgeable, they know the ranch, and more importantly, they get to know you! If you need to get away, if you are looking to close that big deal, or if you just want to experience world class hunting for a variety of species, consider the Lazy Fork Ranch.   I was fortunate enough to be invited out for the 2019 opening weekend of dove season this year. We arrived early afternoon on Friday and were greeted by several staff members offering help carrying in our belongings and showing us to our accommodations. Our rooms were very nice and clean, the beds comfortable, each room had its own private full bath. We where shown the facility, the main lounge room and kitchen which were all fantastic. Then we were taken to the pool area, outdoor kitchen and lounge. We didn’t waste anytime getting into the oasis pool. 

The Lazy Fork had a awesome skeet shoot set up for all of us and we had a great time there. Dinner was served promptly afterward, let me say Wow! The food was some of the best I’ve ever eaten anywhere, breakfast, lunch and dinner all 5 star. Saturday morning up early for the dove hunt, we where taken out in very nice UTV’s and set up in very beautiful pastures. Lazy Fork provided dogs to retrieve our birds and cleaned and prepared the birds for us as well. All I can say about my experience at the Lazy Fork is Fantastic, Five Star, and a truly great place. If you are looking for a place for a corporate outing or great whitetail hunting, look no further!
