Lazy Fork Ranch is absolutely THE BEST hunting lodge I have ever experienced. The amazing food, incredible hospitality, limitless hunting opportunities and lasting friendships we have experienced is unmatched.
My friends and I have been guests at the Lazy Fork ranch for several years and we have a standing booking every year to make sure we don’t lose our spot. The lodge/accommodation's is first class and one of the most comfortable places I have ever stayed. The ranch itself is breathtaking and has everything you want out of a South Texas ranch. Alicanne, Rob and all the guides make you feel like family and are blast to be with all weekend. Everything about the stay (the booking, the lodging, the hunting, the eating, etc.) is made easy by the Bracken family and is 5 star. In short, if you can’t have fun and enjoy yourself at Lazy Fork, you can’t do it anywhere.
WOW - Just incredible! Last year I was a hunter and was blown away by the ranch, ranch house, and the men that so graciously spent their time with us; they genuinely wanted to make the trip the very best possible. The wildlife is outstanding, just like last year. This year I had the great fortune to be a guest during the disabled veteran hunt that Rob and his family so graciously put on. I cannot express how much the hunt meant to me and the other vets, and I was honored to help in any capacity I could this year as a guest. Seeing how much other disabled veterans got out of the hunt, just like I did last year, was reward of a lifetime. As for the food this trip - I gained 10 pounds I think. John out did himself on everything again, especially the pork butts - and Derrell made probably the best beans I have ever had. Shout out to Mark, Jordan and the guys for being awesome guides and fantastic hosts. Rob you're the best and I thank you sir!

Just wanted to thank everyone from Lazy Fork for the trip of a lifetime. It was my very first hunting trip I have ever gone on and I don’t think I could’ve had a better time anywhere else. The staff is amazing. We all had a great time together and that something you can’t get just anywhere. My guide, Ricci, was such a patient and easy going guy, that helped so much. Rob and the rest of the staff are just “good people”. What else can I say? I will be back and look forward to seeing all my new friends at Lazy Fork again real soon. Thank you again for helping me to have a trip of a lifetime.

Outstanding! Words can not express the heartfelt gratitude I, and the rest of the wounded warriors have for the hospitality shown by Rob and his men; men that so graciously donated their time for us. The quality of deer is incredible, and the management program is first class. The ranch house is a resort! The hunt was awesome, and made even more incredible by Rob and his men making us feel like family. The cooking was off the charts. We left feeling like we made a whole new set of great friends. These men generally wanted to be a part of the weekend that gave back to veterans. I have nothing but love and respect for this outfit!

Trip of a lifetime. Great lodge, amazing food, and huge deer! However, I must say the best part of Lazy Fork is the hospitality of its ownership and staff. They are a well-oiled machine, watching and caring for your every need to make your experience one of a kind. I have been to several ranches and resorts and this one ranks up there with the best in all categories. Beautiful place. Thank you Bracken Family!
The Lazy Fork Ranch is a 5-star hunting lodge in some of the prettiest country in South Texas. I am blown away at the hospitality of the Bracken Family. Our hunter group included a nice family from Georgia out for their annual trip, plus me and a friend. I enjoyed relaxing watching football one afternoon on a huge wrap around leather couch next to a massive fire. Every night I had fun with the guides having drinks after dinner. Of course, hunting their amazing deer was the highlight of my trip because the ranch’s quality of deer is beyond top-notch. Everyone got the deer they wanted, and each of the deer was massive with strong scores and lots of character. Our guide was Shane Quintanilla, who was easy going and patient with us the entire trip until he knew we had a chance at a great buck...I’ve never seen a guide so genuinely excited for his hunters! Shane kept us very calm and directed the shot perfectly. He put us on exactly what we wanted, and I felt like he knew the ranch very well. The management program is top notch with some very special deer. In addition to the amazing lodge, we were fed some of the most incredible smoked steaks, fried shrimp, buttermilk tenderized fried quail, and their special homemade salsa made by the owner. I forgot desert...Chef Mike made my personal favorite fresh Key Lime pie…everything Chef Mike made was my favorite meal. The owner and staff work hard to host properly, and I will get back to visit another time soon!

I hunted at the Lazy Fork Ranch in early December 2020. To say the experience was FANTASTIC would be an understatement. I've been on many guided hunts in my time and this by far was 5-Star all the way! Absolutely beautiful ranch home furnished with private bedrooms each with it's own bathroom along with a private Chef. Rob Bracken the co-owner was absolutely generous to say the least with his time and made sure I had a great experience. The Chef Mike was absolutely first class. He made us a beef-wellington and homemade caramel dessert that to this day I still can't forget how amazing it was. The guide Will Janecek was first class, and between Rob and him I harvested the biggest free-range buck to date. Rob's team took care of the deer for us while we enjoyed fellowship and fantastic accommodations. Would highly recommend this lodge to anyone who is looking for the real deal. Do yourself a favor and book at the Lazy Fork. I will be a forever client of Rob's/Lazy Fork Ranch.

I just wanted to take a minute and say thank you and acknowledge a very special person. As a business owner in San Antonio I understand the importance of customer service and creating an experience for the customer. Rob Bracken left an impression on me to last a lifetime. His Politeness and professionalism was unmatched. He made sure my friends and I never had to ask for anything and simply just made you feel like family. I will absolutely recommend the Lazy Fork Ranch to anyone looking for the Best hunting in Texas. LAZY FORK RANCH offers and an experience and hospitality unmatched by all.
I had the wonderful pleasure of visiting Lazy Fork Ranch September 18-20th, 2020 for a Dove hunt. Having hunted in many different areas across North America as well as Africa, I can say pulling up to the front of the lodge I was on the edge of my seat. The main lodge is very impressive with wonderful accommodations. The pool and outside areas are perfect for a few people or twenty with plenty of room for everyone to have their own space.
Alicanne and Rob have done an outstanding job in putting together a team that is next to none. We were greeted like long time friends that picked up conversations that were started ten years prior. All the staff was very knowledgeable of the ranch and more than willing to take a small group or a larger group out to look at everything at a moments notice. Or on-site skeet shooting for a warm-up prior to a hunt, just ask.
Our Dove hunting was great as we had a total of eleven hunters and no one had a problem shooting at birds on any of our four hunts.
After hunts you are welcomed back to the lodge to a hot breakfast or dinner that is absolutely amazing with more than you want to eat at any given time.
We have already booked for next year and cannot wait to see all our friends that we made and enjoy the paradise that they have created in South Texas!
Hey Lazy Fork Hunting wanted to say thanks for the dove hunt last Sunday. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but Your place is beautiful and your brother is extremely friendly. His friends that helped were great too. Everyone was really entertained and enjoyed. My wife had never shot a shotgun but she got it down pretty quick. Thanks again y’all are great people.

As a first time dove hunter, I was not sure what to expect when I was invited on this trip, but all I can say is WOW. From the moment we arrived, everyone at Lazy Fork made you feel right at home...like you were truly a part of the family. We were absolutely amazed by the beauty of the ranch, the kindness shown by everyone on the staff, and the first-class accommodations. The 5-Star meals prepared by our chef ensured that none of us went hungry. Our guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and tried their hardest to make sure we had a good time and successful hunt. We all had a great time and in fact, have already booked for next year.
If you are looking for a top-notch hunting outfit, look no further, Lazy Fork has it all!
Thank you to everyone at Lazy Fork for the amazing hospitality!
I booked a hunt at the Lazy Fork Ranch after months of researching a hunt in Texas. This was my first experience on a Deer Ranch. I couldn't have been more pleased. The staff was amazing! Everyone was professional, polite, and worked very hard to make sure my experience would be a great one. The accommodations and food were tremendous. A special thanks to my guide Billy who put me on a buck of a lifetime. Anyone wanting a great experience should look no further than the Lazy Fork Ranch! I highly recommend it and will definitely be back.

Big thanks to Rob Bracken and his family for hosting us and allowing us to hunt on their amazing Ranch! Everyone involved in making this trip happen, from the travel, to the food, to the wonderful company, is amazing. Seriously the best group of guys. Thanks for carrying everything for me, helping me in and out of the blinds, and showing me an all around good time. I’ll never forget harvesting my first whitetail buck, but that was honestly just the icing on the cake. Sitting in the blinds with great company while watching all the incredible wildlife may have been my favorite part. We saw and identified bobcats, javelinas, quail, dove, hawks, buzzards, pigs, snakes, roadrunners, deer, turkey, coyotes, cardinals, green jays, and even a great horned owl. I learned how to score deer and determine their age based on certain characteristics. I learned about the history of the area and about ranch management techniques. I even used a ranch weapon during my time there, and having Rob coach me on the basic fundamentals of marksmanship and the exact location to shoot the buck based on different body presentations was invaluable. Texas is truly a one of a kind place with one of a kind people. Thank you!
My grandfather and I just recently hunted with these guys and let me tell you they are above all outfitters that I have experienced. My grandfather is 81 and they accommodated him perfectly. The food and the lodge were absolutely amazing not to mention the refrigerator stocked full of beer! Lol The guides were extremely personal and the amount of game and class of bucks they have are extraordinary! You will NOT be disappointed if you book a hunt with these guys!
At Lazy Fork ranch everyone makes you feel like family. The guides are knowledgeable and professional. The game is plentiful, healthy and well managed. This is a 5 star lodge with all the amenities. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food is fabulous and with an on site chef, you'll never go hungry. If you're looking for that hunt of a lifetime, look no further. Lazy Fork ranch has it all.

Outdoor activities is a major part of rehabilitation for many people. I suffered a traumatic brain injury and although this area leads in TBI research, being stuck in one of the largest cities in the United States can be very overwhelming. All the hustle and bustle and noise and learning how to interact with people again is a lot of strain mentally even if the injury isn’t blatantly obvious. With that, with the therapy of being outside and to focus on a task one has the ability to accomplish is very important, but the social environment is also important. In my rehab I would get down on myself for set backs even if they weren’t inherently my fault, and a lot of people at the WTB suffer from this mentality so having a basic goal, to go out and look for deer and maybe shoot one, focus on it, and possibly accomplishing it without distractions over stimulating you really means a lot. Then having an environment where everyone is really friendly and supportive of you so you can focus on an accomplishment in a time of your life were you may not feel like you’re accomplishing a lot is exactly what more people need. I’m an avid hunter, so even beyond everyone being nice and supportive at the Lazy Fork it was a great place to hunt, eat, and even stay. In the military we often focus on fine details and this place had every one of them covered.
Stop looking! If you or your company have been looking for that perfect hunting destination, this is it! This place has it all. Great accommodations, world class dining, a friendly, relaxing atmosphere, and the most picturesque South Texas sunsets to be found. The wildlife numbers and species are abundant. Whitetail deer, Bobwhite/Blue quail, Rio Grande Turkey, feral hogs, and javelina can be seen on a daily basis. This fifth generation operating cattle ranch is one of the legendary ranches of the famed “brush country.”
I went there as a stranger and left as a friend. Alicanne and her brother, Rob, make you feel at home. Guides, Shane and Cody, are locals. They are very knowledgeable, they know the ranch, and more importantly, they get to know you! If you need to get away, if you are looking to close that big deal, or if you just want to experience world class hunting for a variety of species, consider the Lazy Fork Ranch. You will be glad you did!

I was fortunate enough to be invited out for the 2019 opening weekend of dove season this year. We arrived early afternoon on Friday and were greeted by several staff members offering help carrying in our belongings and showing us to our accommodations. Our rooms were very nice and clean, the beds comfortable, each room had its own private full bath. We where shown the facility, the main lounge room and kitchen which were all fantastic. Then we were taken to the pool area, outdoor kitchen and lounge. We didn’t waste anytime getting into the oasis pool.
The Lazy Fork had a awesome skeet shoot set up for all of us and we had a great time there. Dinner was served promptly afterward, let me say Wow! The food was some of the best I’ve ever eaten anywhere, breakfast, lunch and dinner all 5 star. Saturday morning up early for the dove hunt, we where taken out in very nice UTV’s and set up in very beautiful pastures. Lazy Fork provided dogs to retrieve our birds and cleaned and prepared the birds for us as well. All I can say about my experience at the Lazy Fork is Fantastic, Five Star, and a truly great place. If you are looking for a place for a corporate outing or great whitetail hunting, look no further!
Thank you to all the staff of the Lazy Fork for the great hospitality and special thanks the Shane Q at Q- Outfitters.

Just wanted to say thanks to the lazy fork ranch, guides and staff for a great 3 days of hunting, relaxation and fine food, this was my first deer hunt ever and thanks to the help of my guide Rob Bracken I was able to kill my first buck, a nice 9 point, a doe and piggy on the 3rd, Rob was patient and constantly giving me pointers and never gave up on me even after numerous misses the first 2 days, the word's "breathe "and "squeeze the trigger" will be imprinted in my mind, even the other guides were encouraging me, the food was great, you'll definitely not go hungry, thanks again for a great first experience, looking forward to making it a regular hunting place. God bless y'all.
The Robert Bracken Family have taken this appreciation of our veterans to the next level, by hosting their annual deer hunt and weekend getaway for our Wounded Warrior Heroes out of the Brooks Army Medical Center facility. This is Mr. Robert Bracken and his son Rob Bracken’s way of saying thank-you. Our Veterans enjoyed expertly prepared meals by some of the best camp cooks in South Texas. The Lazy Fork hunting guides are second to none when it comes to putting these extra special hunters on a good deer. The hospitality and comradery shown by the Brackens, their friends and staff at the Lazy Fork Headquarters epitomizes the basic values of McMullen County, family. And through their efforts they again provided a very successful Wounded Warrior Hunt.
